Dead Lucky (wee stories challenge #20)

Have you ever had the feeling of waking from a dream when you were never really asleep? Me, either. At least not until this moment, I suppose. Or this month…year…millisecond… it’s so hard to keep track.

I can’t seem to focus.

The glare from my watch face keeps blinding me; all this light and nothing to see.

How did I get here? Last thing I know, I was all cozy in my down comforter, Charlie close enough to feel without invading my space. It seemed the perfect moment.

I remember thinking ‘right now, I could almost die happy’… did I?

I like the first couple of lines - 'Me either' made me laugh.

It's an interesting concept, but it's the humour that shines through.

I'd be inclined to cut 'did'I?' and leave the reader asking the questions, but that might just be me.

Cheers

Karen

Unfortunately it happens to me all the time (referring to your first line). I'm like a goose — wake up in a new world every five minutes, heh heh. Good one, Kate!

This is really deep. Sometimes you think you are so happy that you associate it to something so negative like death, because you know that if you are any happier, that is probably what will happen to your hear. I really like it, you should make it into a story!
