LIFE PRESERVER

It is crucial now
that I embrace
the bright wildness
of dandelion and daisies--
refuse the current tide
of reporting darkness
objectively, like a photo
of broken glass.

It is the Fall, you know,
like the pull of sinking water
that is not buoyant
and pulls us down.

This will be a hard day
so I must pull off
the dark glove
of the sky
dig in the deep pockets
of this crumbling coat
for my rose glasses.

This is my work
and some day you will
thank me for it.

I feel you've found a voice and creat comfortably in it (I'm not there yet). I liked the first verse of this one particularly. It's a universal poem, so easy to access. I can think of several people who don't normally read poems you would enjoy finding your work in a newspaper of magazine.
