Thomas

and now these curious
hands, these willing fingertips
kissing air, can also brush cheeks,
can stroke skin;

and the beating
of wings echoes
inside curving branches
cloaked by Sunday’s raindrops;

these hours for waiting
take flight on the silk of feathers
winging above damp streets,
calling in the key of e minor.

Very strong. Beautifully lyric. The second stanza is my favorite--extremely fine crafted.

This is publishable. An editor would be a fool to turn this one down. If I had to stretch, I guess I might say you might be able to find something better to replace the slightly cliche, "kissing air," and "brush cheeks." The second and third stanzas are so strong they overshadow the first. "curious hands" and "willing fingertips" are also strong, but the rest of the stanza is only pretty good.
