Shine on, Dying Star

Stay above me, gleaming star,
Because as long as you’re alive,
The fire in me will stay a little while
It’s late in the night, the hard ground is cold, and I’m alone
I’ve got no one to go to, nowhere to run to
Shine on, dying star
It’s not quite morning yet

Beautiful. I can't help but to compare it to wishing on a star, although I know that is not the message. I like the reliance on the star for the fire to burn inside. Great!

fine use of deceptively simple metaphor figurative thingies
to convey a myriad of feelings associated with the special magic of being up all through night and holding on against the coming of dawn.

I liked how you look to the star as a companion and a resolution... short and pleasant...
