To Do List

Making a note, must remember to vote
Add to the list, post that letter I wrote
Dry cleaners, pick up my lovely blue coat
Put the fresh beans in some water to soak

Thinking now of all the things I miss
Just jotting down an ongoing list
I will give you a call, no I insist
Meet you on Friday, I couldn’t resist

The time has gone, years have passed
Material things I have amassed
Friends and family long since passed
Grandchildren from a similar cast

Not wanting to forget old acquaintances
Milestones and headstones, instances
So many now but shaded references
Perhaps still paying the consequences

To have and to hold, from this day forth
The children have left to live in the North
The gardens now looking nice, of course
Still need to push the gate with some force

I can’t help but think
That there is a link
With writing the list
And the thing I miss.

I like this poem so much, it speaks of things I'm familiar with.
There is a sense of time having passed. I feel like this poem, if that makes any sense.

I have no problem with the rhyming, must be the accent.

I like it all but especially:
'Still need to push the gate with some force'
There's a whole story in that one line.

Very nicely done, Anna

I enjoyed this one a lot. It had nice flow and meaning. But the rhyme on these lines were off. . .
"Dry cleaners, pick up my lovely blue coat
Put the fresh beans in some water to soak

Thinking now of all the things I miss
Just jotting down an ongoing list"
