Do you remember
When I was little
You took me for a horsey ride
The horse’s name was “Sly”
Your heart was always with him
You raised him with lots of love
He was so strong and beautiful
Until he died

I remember…from when I was little
You use to take me for walks
The flowers would bloom in spring
I always had terrible allergies
So I could hardly breathe
I had fun anyway
Because the leaves would sway
And the trees would spar with me
How simple it was
Back when I was little
And you…you were strong
And beautiful

We take less walks these days
There’s no horsey for us to ride
I’ve gone away to college
And your body is failing now
I guess I miss the good ol days
When we were both so strong
And you loved me for being cute and little and happy
And I loved you for wisdom
Your veins are wasted from needles
Your body is so frail
You’re wasting away in front of me
God, you look so pale
I’m going to miss the horsey rides
I’m going to miss the woods
I’m going to miss you, aunty Kristene
You will always be so beautiful
