Filling my Heart

Sweet relief and gentle healing.
I thought I was better.

But when I saw you.
But when I heard you.
The memories,
Lovely and cruel-
Threw things back into perspective

Shows me.
Reminds me.
How things really are.
How I really feel.

The pain comes back,
Not as sharp, but sharp enough
To cut at old scars
That bleed, but not as terrible as before,
To bring back tears,
But not as many as before.

We gradually grow apart,
And I rejoice.
We gradually grow apart,
And I weep bitterly.

I rejoice-
I can heal.

I weep-
I’m losing you.

Light and dark.
Ying and Yang.
Bittersweet.

This is what fills my days.
This is what fills my heart.

Very nice, Eva. You look like a young Anne Waldman!

I currently run an online arts journal, Watching the Wheels: a Blackbird. I'd be happy to consider some of your work for Issue IV, due out this May. Feel free to check out the journal and see if it suits your fancy.

Best regards,
