thats it

no amount
of faux philosophical
clever dick
insightfulness

will save me now

not once Doris Day lyrics
have reduced me
to tears

that's it I'm on the slippery slope
collecting clichés
and end of the day
fuck wit wisdom

as I go

Your poems are mischievous. You never paint any background, and in this poem you deliberately make it unguessable whether you've never cried over Doris Day lyrics, or that you've cried many times over Doris Day lyrics. But the feeling is so clear. How about Ella Fitzgerald lyrics "This can't be love because I feel so well..." or "I forgot to remember to forget..." ?

I like strong women making their points. Your poem brings the emotions across and it is a joy to read!

Interesting,This poem fits rather well into (free-verse). It seems to me you didn't capitalize much (except for your nouns) however, in this case thats considered to be fine as it fits with the tone of the poem.

The only think I would too see is a brief description about Doris Day after the poem.
