Middle Ground

Unexpected, yet the best I could ask for
Uncertain, yet sure not wanting to be without
Confused, yet determined to figure this out

Solutions that make me fear
A tomorrow when you’re not near
Decisions that make me see
The place where we ought to be

I know it’s a lot to ask of you
I know it may hurt us anew
But I don’t know what to do
Can’t be but also cant stay away from you

What it takes is perseverance
Not allowing interference
Until we reach the middle ground
Answer’s just waiting to be found

Let’s wait and see
We have a possibility
Asking for a leap of faith
In visions of the night
And our feelings by daylight

You touched me deep inside
Saying there is no need to hide
Reminding me of a need
To open up, let others in
Candour is where it begins

My shallow path had just begun
That’s when you came along
Open, gentle, sincere in all you do
One of many reasons I feel for you

While you chase my fear away
At last, we are able to say
Words coming from our soul
Making both of us whole.

I have shortened the poem quite a lot. I have written it years ago and reading it now made me feel that it is way too long. Thanks for the helpful comments.

It is a bit long but does convey the pain of the end of a relationship rather well.

Interesting way of rationalising feelings and predicting the future of an uncertain relationship. Introspective, but way too long to convey the central idea - learning curve.

Hmm... It seems rather long just to portray a single purpose, however all your scetences serves a purpose. Not bad.
