Midnight to Dawn

Oh to feel the cool midnight air caressing my skin,
To touch the earth beneath my bare feet, and
To run unencumbered by my life's constraints.

If I could escape my present reality to a grassy knoll,
A place away from the synthetic energy to lie down on the earth
And spend hours happily watching the stars from midnight until dawn.

I'd breathe in the cool damp air, the sweet scent of the grass,
Feel the wetness of the dew in my very own hand,
and the textrues of our own Mother Nature.
I could escape the harsh reality of a complicated time.

I yearn for a simpler time,
When I met the moon face to face
And felt it's natural electricity pass through me and pull me out of my reverie.
Then all of nature would strengthen me in a moment.

I remember those nights when I felt the power of nature,
Mother Earth and all of my surroundings,
How I willfully let the time between midnight and dawn soothe my soul, and
The nights I prayed for strength, forgiveness and for love.

To lie still in the midsts of the sounds of silence from dusk until dawn,
To wait in the ever building and electric anticipation of the first fiery rays
Of the sun on a brand new summer day, and
To know the joy as the sun and the moon began their silent, familiar but brief exchange.

To be filed with the energy as the leaves on the trees became etched in fiery gold light,
Feeling the brilliance of the warm colors of the sky just past dawn's first light.
relax as the sounds of the night receded into darkness, and
The light extend into a brand new day.

Oh how my soul would be restored,
My spirit renewed, and
My heart filled with joy.
Oh how I dream of the time from midnight to dawn.

The theme of poem is elegiac, it reminds us of a time when we were closer to nature. it reminds me a bit of Wordsworth - 'getting spending, laying waste our powers, little in nature do we see as ours'.
