for Jen, my love

a girl i’d just met,
much to my surprise,
drilled a hole in my heart,
with electric brown eyes,
and a stare laced with longing,
so pure, no disguise,
i could lie there beside her,
awake ‘til sunrise,

my lips on her skin,
my fears left behind,
our hearts and our spirits
so sweetly combined,
in dark, early hours,
entranced and entwined,
shake the dust off our souls,
our stars are aligned.
