Morning Storm

It’s early still in my little corner of the world
A glance outside and I see beautiful greenery
Washed clean from this morning’s rain

Ominous clouds rolling in off the coast
Stark contrast against the clean leafy trees
Everything wet, dust washed away
A cold breeze blows the mist in my face

Through the clouds I see little pockets of light
But they’re moving quickly as if the sky were the sea
The sounds this morning are crisp and clear
And then, a flash of lightening to remind me

There’s a storm brewing again today
Every bit as strong as the one the day before
Like a metaphor of the whole of my life right now
Stark contrasting dark and light

The beautiful part is the rain that comes
Like gentle tears of frustration for the past
Maybe it’s time to let it all go now
Let the winds of change take it away

It’s peaceful here in the darkness
The sound of the rain gently falling
My coffee in hand, abject appreciation of the view
It will be a dark but beautiful day
