Sipping Salvation
Awakened from restless sleep
Submerge in an effort to escape the traces
Of hellish and bewildering dreams
Warmth generated from without
Cools as I don something to maintain it
Leave the steamy momentary existence
Wander, I do, In the dark
Search for a chalice
To quench my thirst
Find it I do and cherish it deeply
Move to a place to sort through my emotions
Write, I do, for a time to find peace
Conflicted and anxious for no seeming reason
Then memory returns, there is much at the core
But time’s passing will release me
Until then the answers within will await
As the morsel of gratitude is swallowed in defense
To quell the urges of a wound left festering
I feel it take hold
Both disgusted and appreciative
Temporary relief, a moment's salvation
I sit and just ponder
What the next moment will bring
A sip from my chalice and I let it all go

Hi Misty... thanks for the comment...
This is a great piece... I like the way each stanza flows into the next, this poem could be written in a different way but I still like the format you have it in. Nice meandering lines that take you on a journey only to find yourself relaxed and in your seat at the end of it all.
Quite refreshing,
Thanks for the read. Nice one, I really like it. :) Mick |
