The story of us
Began so long ago,
But it feels like
It started days ago.
I saw you
But didn’t see you.
You saw me
But refused to let me in.
We fought so hard to keep
Each other out.
A mission that was
Successfully painful.

The story of us
Took us down much
Different paths.
I lost my faith,
Lost my smile,
Lost my way.
You took your vows
And took your life
Into your own hands.
A son was born,
With all the innocence
That we had lost so long ago.

The story of us
Is filled with forgiveness
And second chances.
My heart healed,
My faith restored.
Memories of us
Reminded me
Of your heart
And soul.
We fought to keep it safe,
Knowing it would be complicated
And people wouldn’t understand.

The story of us
Is still writing itself.
Emotions run strong
And fear tries to stop us.
But with your hand in mine
And you protecting my heart,
The story of us
Will stand the test of time.
