Throwing Strikes

Strike One
He scans the courtroom; the presiding opponents are arranged in a diamond formation. A wall of green sits behind them. The crowd sighs.

All rise.

Strike Two
He shuffles his shoes. The crowd becomes agitated – sighs turn to groans –
He goes into his mind and gasps his last breath of fresh-cut grass.

Order.

Strike Three
A breaking pitch of a sentence; his fans weep – sighs turn to cries –
The authority retires to their chambers as he hangs his head.

25 to Life.

It's intriguing, but I don't understand the interplay of baseball and the legal system. Educate me!
