The alleyway

The path was narrow
The dream trying
And stepping out, stark and disillusioned
Onto the highway
Without an ideology of exclusivity
I still in memories until dulls
The hopelessness of reality

Onward, ahead
To the irretrievable
A security blanket become shroud
I will indulge in memory loss
For I've sacrificed too much
In the names of hope and sanity
Glossing over loss with ready gratitude

I long for the comforts of emptiness
And the dull embrace of ignorance
For there is no more salvation in human contact
Than there is humanity

I liked the background meaning of this piece. My favourite part was the ending
“I long for the comforts of emptiness
And the dull embrace of ignorance
For there is no more salvation in human contact
Than there is humanity”

Alleyways are usually dark, lonely places. I feel it in this piece.
The last stanza stands out the most to me, as humanity seems to have taken a turn down that alleyway… Well done Shirine
