Cheshire Cat Moon
In the sky, behold,
A Cheshire cat moon
Closer than normal
Bright orange grin with no eyes
Except maybe for the trillions
Of twinkling stars that are already gone from existence.
What a sight to see
Such a wonder
Makes me realize there is more to life
Than what we expect
More to it than we think
We have come to honestly know
Except for a smile, the sky is so dark
The winter air growing chill
Existence visibly blurring
With an oncoming fog
It’s strange to see this
But it’s some how so very perfect
Maybe the moon doesn’t mock me after all
Maybe the bright orange grin is a hint
“Don’t take life too seriously my friend.”
I’d like to believe that I shouldn’t
And I wish I understood why I do
I may never know but the Cheshire cat moon will remind me to try
