Promises of a Hurt Girl

The Promise of a Hurt Girl

Give me your heart, and I’ll give you mine,
cause you know nothing is free.
I’ll love you more than you’ve been loved before,
then in love you will truly be.
But don’t fall in love, because when you do,
I promise you I’ll break it.
Then you will hurt, pain deep down inside,
and you will feel like you’ve been hit.
But I can’t tell you this now, you can’t know,
I can’t let my fear and pain show.
You see, I was hurt long ago, and I promised myself
I would let love go.

Hurt Girl’s Promise Revised

I promised you I’d love you,
it’s been my healing salve.
I promised you you’d love me,
and I know you have.
I promised you I’d hurt you,
I’d break your heart.
I promised you you’d hurt bad,
but now we can’t be apart.
Now I can tell you my promises and story,
now I can let you know.
You see, I was healed long ago, and I promised myself
I wouldn’t let love go.
