You Wanna Be Free

Dedicated To JR Monk

You said you wanna leave-you wanna be free…
But from what? Free from me?
You sound like you think you won’t need me;
but friend, you better believe me-
you’ll cry aloud and scream out
my name when you get in a jam.
I have fame, but you left me and you have nothing.
God blessed his believer-Drugs and murder brought
your heart and head down to hell,
and now forever more you’re damned to tell
your sad and pitiful fate.
God shut the gate
when she opened a space for you in her gang.
You felt unloved, unwanted-
but I cared more than you will ever know,
‘cause you’re my friend, no matter what-
you call me and I’ll kick your troubles
full in the butt.
