The Gathering (Karen's Wee Challenge #25)
As I watched, a pale, sinning voyeur among the richly colored faithful, the choir took the room. Thirty singers raised bold, beautiful voices in heavenly sound. Their brown faces shone and white robes undulated as they swayed to the rhythm.
The preacher wore a purple jacket, purple shirt and tie. He pleaded, “Sweet baby Jesus! Forgive us, Lord Almighty!” Shouts from behind and around me. “Yes, Lord!” “Say it!” “Praise Him!”
Something in the aisle caught my eye. There, belly-crawling to the altar, was a man in a crimson suit and matching alligator shoes. He raised his hand for forgiveness.

| I just went to Antioch Baptist Church in Saint Louis for a funeral. Same DMZ kind of neighborhood, but an absolutely moving service. It will leave a long lasting, positive impression. |

Well, we don't have this kind of thing in Scotland: if you're not cold, miserable and depressed, it's not church.
I like the image you've conjured up and I felt the belly-crawling gave the man a slithery, snakey feel - quite creepy (no pun intended) really.
Cheers

Sitting right there with you. Only seen this on TV but can well imagine the power of being there, believer or not.
A great story, Bill, unfolded like a movie in my head. |

Thank you, all of y'all. Grae, the shoes were crimson like the suit. Stunning.
Contrary to what you might think the crimson zoot suit is alive and well. |

Can't fault it, Bill. Tight and tidy as usual. Perhaps ebven more so as I took so darn long to get here.
Realistic and visually appealing. Audio content, too.
The man in the red suit was crawling because his alligator shoes made him do it.
