she walked away

she shot him dead
without a second glance
the wind caught her dress
as she walked away

into the distance
she faded out
blood pooled into streams
hard heels clacking loud

through strange archways and pagodas
temples wrought in flesh
a city vast and cluttered
unfolding like the news at ten

down alleys and avenues
marking the way to the sun
she walked with dancing shadows
she walked with outstretched palms

she had left her love laying
on cold pavement dead
she had wanted to look back
she wanted him to live again

in conflict she rose to see
the occasion of this day
a specter of light and colour
waiting to be discovered

she wondered as she boarded
the streetcar flowing east
people stared with empty eyes
did she have blood on her face?

she felt the malice grow cold
a laugh escaped her lips
rushing through the waking cityscape
she had no more room for tears

the cards had been dealt
and there was no turning back
her love was dispersed into dust
her soul rotted black

sirens rushed out of the distance
perhaps they had found her deed
she sat in silence watching
time seeped by unnoticed

the water rose in front her
she pulled the stop signal
as she descended to the street
the clamor faded to background

she walked along infinite piers
weaving through moored boats
she gazed into the cloudy water
she didn't want to resist its pull

colours filtered through the surface
she floated in murky depths
seaweed wrapped around her legs
as she breathed her final breath

Reminds me of a Murder City Devils song. I don't think you could ever let me down.
