Twisted - Wee 25

“Clark! You were talking.”

“No, Sir, it wasn’t me, it was-“

“To my desk!”

The class was riveted. Since the tawse had been banned, we’d thought Smith was powerless.

“Kneel down, arms out to the side.”

He grinned, placed a bible on the back of one of my hands, a dictionary on the other.

“Stay perfectly still for three minutes, or you’ll go to the headmaster’s office.”

Facing the board, aching under the weight of knowledge, I felt tears trickle down my face.

We should have known Smith would make us yearn for the days of ‘six of his best’.

I'm impressed. Nice write, Karen, though Smith is a bit shy of imaginative. I, too, figured you for something more profound. Great story though. Janet

Thanks David - you're right about 'I felt', it could definitely go.

Thanks Grae - ah, well, Clark is my maiden name and the teacher's name was actually Van Der Morten - neither particularly Scottish, I'm afraid. We still had the belt in the '70s - last time I remember getting it was in 1976 (and ah never did it, honest ah never).

Thanks Geordie - ah, the heidie's daughter - you must have gone through all sorts of hell.

Thanks Tim - so you want me to kill a was? Yeah, you're right.

Cheers

Karen
