silence of a lamb revision

shell-shocked
topaz eyes
shift rapidly
back and forth
terror driven
body sweating
pulse rapidly beating
heart pounding
an airless room closing in
floors rising
as windows pulsate
unable to breath
overwhelming panic
stop
feel it
know it

evil is at the door
foul insidious chameleon
baited with
medicinal peace of mind
no don't let it in
save yourself
... redeem your soul

bottled serenities
such colorful,
tasty treats
so inviting
smoothly
silkily
sliding
down your throat
parched for relief
a biting bitter taste
lips licked greedily
in anticipation of
sweet oblivion
“yes, come to me…”

blessed slumber
sweet sedation at last
a final silencing of
black fears
letting go as
negative energies
now homeless
hungrily slither forth
hunting
scenting
the blood of
... a new innocent

WOW. This a very emotional driven piece of poetry you can feel the insanity this person was going through. I have to say that since you put it in to perspective and told everyone it was about your brother who passed away it just adds alot of depth to this piece of literature. very well written.

This was actually written about my brother. He died this past year from an overdose. He was agoraphobic and had panic disorder. Anything and everything at his door was evil and frightening to him and he was anestytized on many many pills....

never knew negativity could hunt. personally, i always thought negativity a temptation. the poem anthropomorphises this sensation well, i am a little disturbed by an image of medication as a redeemer. self-medicating can be the same piece of the puzzle.
personally, i think of you at the moment as the Mel Blanc of poetry. many voices and characterisations. deep range. is good is nice.
