What Good is a Promise

this is the first song I've ever really written. Thought I'd share it with everyone.

************

where are you when it's too good to be true
when she looks into your eyes and tells you she loves you
im gonna love you baby, for now and forever
too bad we all make promises that we don't intend to keep

you're walking down the street a couple months from the break up
you're about to meet her again so that you can possibly make up
she brings along another guy and you hide the jealousy
it's in your eyes so hard to hide but you have to keep your cool man
its play it right or die

(chorus)
what good is a promise that you don't intend to keep
what good is a few words that mean nothing to me
what were you trying to do when you replied to my "love you"s
i was your whole world, you promised
(chorus continued)
forever is a long time, but i guess not to you
forever is so much time to make time due
what good is a promise when it means nothing to you
im trying to keep dormant these feelings inside
but what good is that going to do? what good is a promise to you

take a bow now
you've insisted on breaking my heart again
the time you begged me for a second chance,
i guess that was all apart of the confusion, i guess
i like thinking back to the times you promised to love me forever
but did you realize how long forever is? i guess not
i've been bent on trying to make you see
that when i said that you meant everything to me
i wasn't playing a game or messing around
it was the real deal and it's been thrown to the ground now

(chorus)

the shows finally over it seems
im getting over you and closing up the torn seams
i'm trying to move on now and ive put everything behind me
but everytime i think of those promises broken it bothers me
we could've been something, something real special
but commitment is too much for both of us i guess
and thats how we can never be again
i plan on keeping my promises, i promised my love to you always
its a shame i can never share it with you again though
cause what good is a promise?

(chorus 2X)

what good is a promise, that is easily broken. what worth is there in a person, who can easily lose their focus.

is there hope in a love, that no one believes in. is there any chance to be a man, when you your dignity is taken.

what more can you offer to be taken, that will make you more appealing? is there anything worth the cost, that every soul must partake in....

are you really the words you've written, or are you buried within your doubt.

fuck what i am saying..

please never doubt yourself.

This seems like a nice song. I know nothing about writing songs. I think they mostly depend on the music that goes with them.

This is really good! :)
Have you got music or anything to go with it?
