A Poem About Pretending

Stand tall,
Keep your eyes open,
And look pretty.
Don’t wilt.
Nobody has to know
That you’re pretending.
You always have.
Your entire life one big masquerade,
You’ve become an adept liar.
You wear your mask,
A smile pasted upon your face.
Just keep smiling,
Just keep lying,
Just keep pretending.
Soon they’ll know
How fake you truly are.
