Torch Song of an Amorist
Within the heart such secrets lay!
A woman stored in candle's light
Denies the waking of the day.
Softening against the firm decay,
the mouth and nostrils thus ignite,
Within the heart such secrets lay!
The soul it feels to go astray,
To die the wick and queen of night,
Denies the waking of the day.
Morning rises, for skies ash gray,
The match no longer does excite,
Within the heart such secrets lay!
With a fiery rhetoric pray
Old Flame, rise, not blamed for sight,
Denies the waking of the day.
Sweet Candle! Seek not your spark's sway,
Bereft of love and never put right,
Within the heart such secrets lay,
Denies the waking of the day!
