Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue

Don't know why I cry when sorrow comes my way.
It comes and I think this time it's gonna stay.
Somehow I go on but damn if doesn’t hurt all day.
Locked in my pain, no escape, nothing left to do.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.
The flood of tears I shed aint gonna do me no good.
When trouble comes in my neighborhood.
I think it's gonna rain today yeah, the clouds have formed true.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.
Two steps forward, two steps back,
Damn, I gotta get off this track.
Drowning in my tears of sorrow and shame,
I don't want to play this game.
Damn, I got mud on my shoe,
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.
Got no one to blame, the song is still the same,
It's always been my claim to fame.
Tell me honey, what can I do?
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.
I love, I lose and I've I got the "sorry I can't be what you need", blues.
Love my body, how good it made you feel,
why didn’t you tell me it wasn't real?
I don't want you to care for me, I don’t think you do.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.
I just want a love that’s gonna stay,
oh I prayed and I prayed, but they always stray.
Lighting tears thru the sky, the thunder roars in my ears,
I'm screaming now, no way to stop these tears.
What can I do when I've bitten off more than I can chew.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.
The morning comes with it's fresh dew.
The rainbow in the sky with it's bright hue.
But the sun don't shine for me baby thanks to you.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

this poem speaks the emotions very well...i can relate to a lot of this...i appreciate the honesty and realness that you applied to this piece...the reader knows exactly how you feel and you allow them to put themselves in your place...i liked it..also, I guess I will agree with sudipal about the cliches, I know we are all tempted to use them and have used them before, but your is still strong without the use of them...i liked it either way..

overall really good- there are a couple of cliches I'd like to see replaced, for example:
"claim to fame"
"bitten off more than I can chew"
