The Artist Works Her Magic

Colored pencil on velvet board. Sensitive hands stroke and zip. A bit of peach here. A purple line there. Smudge with finger to produce shadow behind the tiger’s face.

And now, for the final bits. One more dash of creamy whisker. One last caress of orange fur.

There. Ready for display. Once she finds the right frame. So many choices.

This one.

Done.

Wait. Another drop of shadow. Always one last touch before completion.

Great story and could be used for either title with one sentence change. You're very clever. J

I liked the use of very short sentences - really gave a feeling of the artist's hands flitting from place to place.

Thanks for the read - enjoit it, KIrsten

This is lovely. I don't paint but I could feel it happening.

Almost a piece of prose-poetry. Has very much the same "feel" to me as a haiku, with a final line which brings a slightly unexpected resolution.

I relate to your Mom's use of purple and her one last touch. Purple is a great shadow color and I've unframed a few pieces of art myself. You did a great job of describing the painting process.
