EXHALE

Excuse me, I said Excuse me!

Please allow me to be what

I was purposed for

Allow me to posture straight up

As my long, thick hair falls passed the

Nape of my neck Reminding me I am women

Please allow me to speak words that you may hear;

but very well may not understand

Words spoken are attached to

A lineage of Kings and Queens

That were deprived of possessing

Something sacred

Echoing at a pitch the ear can't hear

EXPRESSION!

Yeah, that word just rolls off of my tongue

A sweet whisper of the word, awakens greatness deep within my core

Please allow me

To just to be

Who I am purposed

To be!

My golden bronze hue

May give you the impression that

I'm just a little less than you

Don't be fooled by my humble demeanor

Please allow me to explain:

I am a beautiful hue of cinnamon

My skin glows like I was basted in the

Suns glory

My hips are substantial and I

Possess curves

That swivel and sway

Like a hissing snake

I am fully aware of my value!

I will be exactly Where I am purposed to be

Nurturing and sharing encouraging words of wisdom

& self-worth to my followers

I will be

Exactly what I am!

The ancestor of those

Strong, deep leaders

That carried the burden of

Being

Too dark

Too deep and

Misunderstood

I will BREATHE!

Lovely 2007

I think all women of color need a poem like this. An affirmation that who and whose they are & that no matter what color their skin, their facial features, their size or shape, that their beauty is justified

Wow! Stunned! Spellbinding... Beautiful, utterly. Sensual and full of understanding - of encouragement and truth.
'My hips are substantial and I
Possess curves
That swivel and sway
Like a hissing snake'

Gorgeous visions dance in my mind...
Exotic, erotic in such a natural way - not the pole-dancing titilation of porn and banner headlines - but the awesome connection of careing and nurturing and sharing, of hunger - of giving of yourself, sharing truth and the natural glorious expression that sex can be.

'I am a beautiful hue of cinnamon
My skin glows like I was basted in the
Suns glory'

A sumptuous feast of ideas and ideals and truth - beautifully put.x
Thank you.x
