Morning Lullaby

The night is gone-
The sun peers in the room-
You sit there—
Still awake-
Sleep should have met you-
Hours ago-
To wrap you in the world of dreams—

My voice soars-
With the tune of a morning lullaby-
Floating from my tongue-
To carry you into the rift-
Of gentle slumber-
And your eyelids flutter-
With images I can’t see-
But you’re peaceful this way-
So I dare not move-
For fear that you will wake-

As my voice fades-
I drift with you-
And meet you beyond the blankets-
Lost in the visions of repose-
Safe in the curl of your body-

Time goes on-
And morning lullabies become routine-
Just to help you-
Be the peaceful, sleeping one-
So I can see you abandon-
The grief of consciousness-
And watch you heal with me.

I like the sense of peace and love that it gives off. It seems like the sort of thing that really runs through a person's mind when their watching a child fall asleep. just most everybody else can't express it as well as you did. so fantastic job, I love it
