By the light

By the light of a half-moon in a strangled curb
A shallow stream ran its course by day and by night.
In this shallow stream I caught the reflection of the
stars above and a glimpse in the mirror and
comfort below.
And which one was up and which down I wasn't sure,
but to smile by the shores eternal-
there was something there-
the blink of scattered light in a raindrop's flight,
a star's shadow in the night,
a dance by the ancient pillar-
and all but a dream and all the world in a stream;
I hold your love in my eyes and it is
written it is known it is the same the world
over yet always new it is the same my dearest
if you knew.
May you laugh long later on when you dust me
off from the shelf for a good look, for there
is light in the darkness and naught but love
in the book.
