Fill in the blank

Give ‘em something funny
And you’re not profound
Give ‘em something serious
And you’re pretentious
Respond to their complaints
And you can’t take criticism
Remain silent
And you’re unmotivated
Put these facts on paper, or online
And you’re whiny, and you’re emo
Don’t try to please ‘em
It cannot be done
Don’t try to placate them
You’ll just end up alone
Where does this fit in?
Profound, pretentious, standoff-ish,
Unmotivated, whiny, emo?
None of the above
That’s real

Try to give concrete images with your lines. The use of 'them' and 'you' are difficult for me to wrap my brain around. Pictures, images. One concrete example of being funny and being called superficial could make an entire poem. If you take each of those lines and show them with the same economy of words, this will be a fucking masterpiece.
Oh, and if you respond, I'll know you can't take criticism.
