Cutter

Five deep scars
Glow red on your hand
Illuminated by the power
Of disfiguring healing.

Yet for as much
As beautiful silver
Slew many a beast
Your pain cannot be conquered.

Your pains no longer secret
But worn like scarlet embarrassment
Which gives the inkling
That your body is incised.

You may retrace
As many scars possible
Breaking the seal
Your body pledged you.

Still the nightmares haunt
Behind forced smiles
As you wonder why
The heart still hurts.

You didn't cut deep enough.

I really love your ability to draw the reader in.

Still the nightmares haunt
Behind forced smiles
As you wonder why
The heart still hurts.

You didn't cut deep enough.

I agree with Simoweirdo, that will leave the reader thinking for a while.
