We're All Wearing Masks

Your friend is just a lover in disguise
Take off his mask and look him in the eyes
This mask makes me seem like I'm your man
When I take it off I hope you understand

And though the porcelain you wear leads me on
I know that we're not lovers anymore
Break it off and prove to me that your gone
I just can't lie to myself anymore

We're all wearing masks and we're all telling lies
I was just lying to bring you here
We're all given tasks and we're searching for the prize
Mine was that I could bring you here

So here's the time and place we've come to say goodbye
I'm glad I made it to bring you here
When you turn around I hope you reach for the sky
It's been one hell of a year

We're all wearing masks and we're all telling lies
I was just lying to bring you here
And now you'll find your friend, the one who is the prize
You'll win him now that I've brought you here.

oh the heartache of friendships intertwining with lovers. it hurts, but it is a great fuel for creativity. again, unsure about the rhyme. first stanza is AABB, the others are ABAB...is that intentional? thanks :)

Hi Michael. I think there's a problem in this line: "... just can't to lie to myself anymore" I think the word "to" might be a left over from another draft. Not sure. Catch ya soon. Janet
