How Does My Dog Find Meaning?

How does my dog find meaning?
He lies face first in front of the heat vent
in the dead cold of Minnesota winter
Enjoying himself
Every moment full of fire
he watches out the window
barks at the neighbor’s cat
an old couple walking a limping black dog
eyes joyous when I strap him into his down coat
highsteps down the side walk
meeting with open mouth
the wall of invisible ice
that is the air we both breathe
lifts his leg and makes a hole in the snow
chases a squirrel up a elm
falls asleep in a shaft of sunlight
on the dusty wood floor
I want to be a dog forever.

Thank you. Sometimes I'd like to be MY dog. He gets a lot of things I wish I had more of, such as living in the moment and wall-to-wall love.

So good, and enjoyable. Yes, a dog's life is not a bad one, provided they choose respectable humans! Thanks.

thanks Jane, for the reminder to be simple and bite the frigid air and to be present to every moment of this life.
Namaste, Phill.

Thank you. I want the kind of alive connectedness that he has to every moment of his life. Sometimes I have to many memories and "hang-ups" that get in the way of my joy in life.
