Standing By
waiting, watching
Why?
must tomorrow always be the day
when the earth's not bare
can't the here and now give birth to bloom?
waiting, watching
Why?
do we sit listening to voices
Tell us we're too young
Tell us one is insignificant
waiting, watching
Why?
do corrupt bones blabber on
"Act like this "
"Think like that"
waiting, watching
Why?
are they like sheep
Always follow
Never think
waiting, watching
Standing By
"one day," we say
while the earth stays dry
and we wonder
Why?
