I remember what it was like to be a new writer, filled with more ideas than I could capture on paper. It was exciting, scary (a little) and fun.

Recently I found just such a new writer. One who loves the play of words, the sound of pencil on paper, and yes, even the paper itself. It made me realize what got me started on this journey. It made me remember that if you do not continue with that love affair, you are just a hack. Writing is not always about the money, and for many, it is never about the money.

I hope I never lose this love, this romance with the written word. I try to recapture the essence of it in every book I write, and even through the ones I read.
