The Wrong Way
I get lost easily. Took years to learn how to read a map. And now they have those GPS gizmos. But the programmers haven’t got the bugs worked out of all of them. And I had to go cheap when I picked mine.
So here I am in Death Valley when I was trying to get to the Grand Canyon. I wonder which way I should walk to get gas. I can’t remember when I last noticed a station. Or a road.
Was that a coyote? This is the last time I travel out of state for vacation.

Oh, this could have been written for me - I have no sense of direction (or spatial awareness), so this is exactly the kind of thing that could happen to me.
Very well told, Kirsten - made me smile in recognition.
Cheers

| I'm so glad everyone likes this. The scenario is based on real events - I don't think I'll ever buy one of those GPS 'thingies', but I have become quite adept at reading a map as well as road signs. Doesn't mean I don't still get lost on occasion, but at least it doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to. Have a great day, everyone! *hugs* :) |

| Oh, dear, how I relate. Still can't read a map well. Feel sorry for MC, good read. |

haha, this is great! I can just see this narrator, in the middle of nowhere, probably doomed, and yet almost chipper about it. And that first paragraph is fantastic, so self-deprecating. Very entertaining read, love the ending.
happy writings. |
