Duvet Day
Warm in the womb of my own room
From first light when I awoke
It’s too cold and cruel a world
To be born out in to today
I’m having a duvet day, OK
Today I am not in, even though I am
So put out the light
I am in, in bed alright
Peek out from corner of the curtain
Rain clouds pass over so uncertain
Lash the roof with drumming rain
Here I’m safe and without sound
Today I am mostly wearing
A HUGE ‘Do Not Disturb’ Sign
I do not wish to be interrupted
From doing nothing S.F.A.
Today, I really truly don’t care
The moaning phone is off the hook
Today, I am only answering
The absolute call of nature
The alarm clock I have disabled
I’m listening to my own body clock
As it ticks now the leaden hands
Drag slowly around my face
I drift and dream, float and scheme
Shift down, slide down the slope
Snug in my valley of my dreams it seems
My own stream of consciousness
You are welcome to join me of course
But any attempts at unsolicited sex
Will meet with my dire disapproval
Just come aboard and let yourself go
Let me toast my toes between your thighs
Roast my nose in your back as I sigh
Ahhhhhhhhh! Duvet Day! Duvet Day
Zzzzzzzzzzzazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzay
