Yesterday’s Tomorrow

Broken faces crash down
on the ground of yesterday’s
promises-
unmet, not kept
shards of faces wept
for a time
when their bodies weren’t untied,
no more minds untwined-
this is now
and the greedy ground
hides pieces in the mud,
broken, tainted specimens
of lives reluctant to confess
they never tried
or expected more
then what was placed before
their foggy, eager eyes
susceptible to lies
told of yesterday’s tomorrow

I used to live in Virginia Beach...sorry...just saw that you were from New Port News. :)

On to the poem!

I'm really impressed. For such a young writer you have a focus and intensity that is rare in inexperience. I'm sure we can all expect very big things from you.

Keep writing!
