Leaving LA

dusty twilight charged and smoldering fades to indigo
clarinet-throated swans mourn the fall of night
nocturnal beasts come by the hundreds to water
here at silver lake

faraway dogs are brawling -he lights up- plans pour into my ear
moulten visions of erotic dancers
bejeweled desert caves
the wicked, in rythmic rictus
laughing
bleeding from a stab in the thigh
unaware
phosphorescent waves break and blink
burning flotsum mushroom toward the lapping sea
he inhales casually squeezing my shoulder
wading into the future

a carpet of fire-crested egrets
burn snowflake lace into the granite hillside
rippeling claw fingers assist anphetamine wolf spiders
working through the night
inoculating us with leopard dreams

deep in the mine shaft picking crystals from its sweating feverish black walls
we could buy a place if only we could break these chains
the chinese family next door burst with conversation
momentarily muffled by change of wind

kissed his eel smooth neck, cool as glass
drifting to the ocean floor shivering
belly feels the bottom starteling the flounder
100 atmospheres pressing
blind glowing creatures tapped their way
breathing water
sub zero bloodless painless
a bit keyed up

someone playing oldies from their car
shifting pitch in passing
remembering the first time i heard the word "fucker"
on hot-dog day
mary mc guiness called me out
blood dripped from her nose onto the playground tarmac
she swore again as she backed onto the trail "asshole"
between two bushes at the end of the cul de sac

i got on my stingray and rode home
having to pee the whole time
chocolate chip cookies
jasmin blooming in the last hours of daylight

this los angeles night
neither stimulates nor mystifies me
it drags on in stasis

I like your surreal style....and your colorful imagery...and the way the vivid descriptions stand out sharply and call for interpretation.
This to me was like remembering snatches of things as you left town...:)

tons of images that overwhelm the senses. Love it. Looking forward to more! Best. Lee
