Neurotica (revised)

Standing naked
and exposed
my skin crawling
with irritation.
I look in the mirror
Blank
Stricken
as I struggle
with hesitation

Oh, such imperfection
I see, so
marred and scarred
by my convoluted life
Does that face really
belong to me?
Lined and faded
by such strife
.
Chaotic, sad
A scared little girl
Lost
inside a woman aged
and grown
Can I let her out
to play once again?
Or is she too young
To be left alone
In a big bad world
often cruel
to an anatomical tenement
long inhabited
and too well worn
to be viewed as
a fresh and
passion compelling
exotica

I spend the long
harsh hours
mentally chewing
me up and
spitting me out

Welcome!
To my
Neurotica

DJ I don't know how we maintain that insecure little girl....but hopefully along with the insecure little girl, if we're very smart, we will maintain the joyous little girl as well?

I relate to this neurotic behavior of over analyzing and critiqing oneself. How is possible that we can still feel so young and innocent inside our mature shells?
