Help Me, Rondeau (best spoken or sung to the tune of The Beach Boys' California Girls)
Not by Brian Wilson, May 1965 - and not featured on the 1966 Beach Boys, Poet Sounds album.
A surfin' dude, a sandy beach;
I wax my board, new tricks to teach.
I hang my five, and maybe ten
And then I do it all again:
For me the girls are out of reach
Those pretty girls, each one a peach
A place for them, my little niche,
I chase the waves, and them, in vain
- A surfin' dude?
The West-Coast girls, don't want a leech;
They say my style's too nouveau riche.
But, It's their loss, and no-ones gain,
Those deuce-coupe types drive me insane:
For Girls like that don't go with geeks
But surfin' dudes.
