Parade
Pain and confusion inside-
All just temporary as they scamper by-
They’re all surrendering and yielding
To an ambiguous state of mind.
And how could I defend myself?
When I myself don’t even know
What it is that resides within me
And causes an internal foe.
Indifference; isolation-
Both form part of the acute strain.
Dark light and opaque shimmers,
Both, though different, fit the frame.
Four in one- eight in two-
Only in theory, nothing to prove,
They all abide together
Though there’s no knowledge of who is who.
And for this single dense persona
It all seems like a dark parade;
Where nothing is and everything isn’t-
Life is a simple masquerade.
For desperation has a watch-like switch
that simply stares out with a mocking grin.
And loneliness composes the hollow music
that's played by a lonely violin.
So, with indefinite resolution
I’ll off the switch and cut the strings,
And sleep will gently overtake me
Forever until the rooster sings.
For there can be no light without a darkness,
No forward without reverse.
There can be no happiness without sorrow,
There’s no blessing without a curse.
