I handed it to you like a well-trained secretary handing her boss a perfectly organized report. And like a well-trained secretary handing her boss a perfect manila-enveloped report, I gave you a succinct verbal overview of the contents, using only words I knew you would understand. My non-verbosity did not work. The report, though it took numerous phone calls, several meetings, one lunch at PF Chang's (expensed of course) with a trusted consultant and hours of preparation garnered no thank you, no raise, no praise – in fact you never even took it from me. So I, like a well-trained secretary, laid it atop the other unopened reports on the desk you walk by twice a day.
