The Creature In The Mirror
Good heavens, it’s hideous, look at that huge nose.
I can’t even bring myself to imagine its toes!
It’s so ugly, and massive, so hideously fat.
And just look at the state of that battered red hat!
I can’t quite believe that it has such hairy hands,
And why are its knees taped with thick linen bands?
I feel nauseous, quite queasy, like I’m going to be ill.
So fetch me the bucket from beneath the window sill.
Should I use it to be sick in, or to cover its features?
For that thing stood before me is a hideous creature.
Add to that the fact that it mimics my own moves.
And it’s wearing a pair of familiar shoes….
