Wishful thinking (book 2 in the making!)

All characters in this story are ficticious and do NOT resemble anyone living or undead!!! (well...ok...maybe just a little!! ;-)

WISHFUL THINKING

Ani sat tapping her nails on the sideboard; she was growing more and more impatient

"Where the fuck are they"

She growled as she clawed a deep ridge into the desk. She could feel her blood beginning to boil; this was not a good sign.

She glared up at the clock, 3am and still no sign of them. She slowly got up and walked to the end of the hallway and picked her coat off the rail. Calmly put her scarf around her neck and walked out the door slamming it behind her. Ani being calm on a night like this was a very bad sign.

She didn’t feel the cold wind on her skin as she calmly walked up the road, didn’t notice the full moon glowing in a dead sky above her head, she had one thing on her mind, to pay them back for making her wait, pay ’him’ back in particular, for something he’d said.

She crossed the dark street, ignoring the traffic lights and not noticing a police car whiz passed her back as she carried on up the road. She hadn’t noticed her nails growing sharper as she dug them into her palms and they began to bleed, she didn’t feel the pain or the coldness of the blood as it dripped from her fingertips.

She rounded the corner and look up the six storey building, not a problem on a night like this, they wouldn’t see her coming.

She walked around the side of the building by the pub, looked up one more time and jumped.

She landed gracefully on the roof, her long coat making a slight flapping sound as it hit the newly laid tarmac.

She walked slowly back to the edge of the building and looked down onto the balcony below. She could see a glimmer of light coming from the window, so they where still awake. She sniffed the air, taking in the scents of the three guys within, and listened quietly to the laughter as the guys watched the TV. She slowly climbed down the edge of the wall and looked inside. She could see two of them sitting on the sofa, and sniffed the air again, the other one must be washing his hands by the smell of the soap. They had no idea she was even there, wouldn’t know what hit them! She crouched quietly on the edge of the balcony as she watched ’him’ walk back into the room and sit down, her blood began to boil again and she could feel it rising to the surface. She could feel her teeth begin to grow and she licked the tips of them, hunger growling from within… this would be the last time they would annoy her. She waited calmly as she watched them putting their coats on, it would be easier for her if they were separated, and she knew one of them would have to go in a different direction from the other two. She quickly crawled back up the side of the wall and quietly ran to the other side and watched as they left the flat, laughing and joking as they took the lift back to the ground floor. She watched as ’He’ went in a separate direction and followed the other two, silently running across the rooftops and she saw her chance as they went to cross the road she had not long walked up. She swooped down from the rooftop, knocking them both flying as she went, and disappeared onto the next roof.

She quietly looked back down to see them and noticed one was unconscious and the other had taken to his heals and was running for his life up the road.

"I think not" she said aloud and flew off after him, catching him very quickly, she threw him to the ground and crouched over him, her thumbnail embedded in his neck.

"This is the last time you upset my daughter, do you understand me?" she growled at him as he desperately tried to free himself from her grip, but she was too strong for him and he began to feel faint.

"You will not remember this tomorrow" she said looking deep into his eyes.

"But you will remember my words" she hissed as she let go and he passed out.

She sealed the wound on his neck by licking her finger and gently running it over the hole, after all this was her son in law, she would leave him for her daughter to deal with.

She walked quietly back down the road to find the other body still laying where she had left it.

She dragged him to the side of the road and slapped him really hard and he began to regain consciousness.

"You should know better than to piss me off" she said as he began to wake.

"I’m sorry" he muttered as he slowly got to his feet

"Now go find your friend and go home" she growled as she vanished back up the road.

"Ani don’t hurt him" he shouted after her knowing where she was going, but she was long gone.

She flew back across the rooftops, blood still dripping from her palms, she would have to feed and feed soon at this rate. She came back to the building where she had started and crouched on the edge, looking out across London, she wished more people could see this view, dancing night lights across the horizon.

"Now which one is his" she whispered to herself as she sniffed the air again, trying to catch his scent.

Suddenly she caught the smell of his aftershave mixed with the soap he had used earlier and she flew across the three buildings that stood in her way. She landed with a thud on his balcony and quickly swung around the drainpipe and clutched onto the wall, hoping she hadn’t been heard. She saw his shadow as he looked through the window and then walked away, then she silently slipped back onto the balcony and glanced in. He was getting ready for bed and had already taken off his t-shirt. Her eyes widened at the sight of him and she gasped as he looked round and she ducked back again. She waited quietly as he turned the light out and left the room, then she slipped a key from her pocket and unlocked the balcony door. He should have been more careful where he had left his keys last time he had been at her flat.

She stealthily followed him into his room and saw as he shuddered.

"Someone walk over your grave?" she growled and he sprung around suddenly missing his footing and falling onto the bed.

"How did you get in here?" he asked looking all around the room.

She said nothing, just threw the key on the bedside table and watched his confused expression change to annoyance.

"I wouldn’t" she hissed, flashing her deadly smile, as he went to make a move off the bed.

"What the fuck are you" he muttered, not taking his eyes away from hers.

"I’m someone you really shouldn’t annoy" she grinned again and watched as he backed himself up the bed a little

"Scared are we?" she said sarcastically as she took a few steps forward, he just nodded.

"Nah man, you can’t be real" he muttered, still staring at her as she slowly sat next to him on the bed and ran her knifelike nail up the leg of his jeans to his bare chest. He shuddered and tried to back away, but there was nowhere for him to go. She grabbed him suddenly by the throat and threw him sideways so he was flat on his back on the bed.

"Are you going to kill me?" he muttered

"No, why, do you want me to?" she grinned sarcastically at him and watched as he shook his head.

"Think I may just play with you a little first" she whispered in his ear as she pulled a cord from around her waist and grabbed his wrists. He tried to pull away, but she was to strong as she wrapped the cord around his wrist and pulled it tight towards the headboard.

"What the fuck are you doing?" he shouted, struggling to get away, but not trying as hard as he thought he would, his curiosity was beginning to get the better of him.

"Hmm, let me see" she grinned an evil grin, as she noticed he had stopped struggling and was staring at her.

"I have a little bone to pick with you" she said as she sat back at the end of the bed watching him with curiosity as he looked from her to his wrists and back again.

"Oh, you won’t get out of that" she smiled sarcastically, and relaxed leaning against the foot of the bed.

"What’s, what’s this bone then, I haven’t done anything" he mumbled.

"Oh really?!" she growled.

He suddenly looked very afraid as he saw the look on her face change.

"What’s this I hear about you telling your mate that I tried to kiss you and you turned away? Wishful thinking on your part I’d say" she grinned sarcastically.

"But, I, um, I never said that" he mumbled

"Well if you want to live I suggest you set the record straight" she said picking up his mobile phone and checking it for credit. But there was none.

"Hmm" she grinned and took hers out of her pocket, spinning it slowly in her hand as she watched him.

"Let me set the record straight for you" she said as she crawled up the bed towards him, flashing her deadly smile as she came closer.

"I have not, would not, and never will try and kiss you" she growled in his ear, as he began to shake as fear rushed through him. She was too close for comfort and running her needle like nails along his jugular, licking her lips as the hunger from within growled at the sight of his vein.

He began to struggle, but she was too quick for him as she grabbed his hair and pulled his head to one side.

"NO!" he screamed as she suddenly bit deep and hard into his vein, drinking in his very soul. His body writhed in ecstasy and pain, he had never felt anything like it. As quick as she had grabbed him, she let go, licking and sealing the wound, grabbed his wrists and slipped the knot.

She stood suddenly and looked down on him as he lay panting for more.

"Let that be a warning to you, if I hear these things again, I may not be so lenient" she grinned as she headed towards the door.

"Oh, and if I had kissed you" she grinned as she popped her head back round the door,

"You’d be feeling just how you feel now" she winked and vanished into the night, leaving him aching for more……
