Forever Friends

You and I were like two peas in a pod.

Never were we at odds.

I didn't think the sun would ever shine.

Because I lost a friend so fine.

We are forever friends.

Now you are gone.

But, I know that I am not alone.

You are with me always.

And, in my heart you will stay.

We are forever friends.

Your memories are always with me.

As always they will be.

I will see you again someday.

And, with you I will stay.

We are forever friends.

I love you so much.

I can almost feel your touch.

My life must keep going.

But, thoughts of you are ever flowing.

We are forever friends.

This is an excellent start. Writing poetry that rhymes is extremely tricky. It either becomes simplistic or it becomes forced. I just finished a piece that was quite challenging because of its rhyme scheme--a terza rima--which I had never before attempted. It's in my writing under Alien Poetry Challenge. I think it turned out rather well. That might give you some insight into what rhyming poetry can be.

Best,
FC
