Eyeshutter
I spent so much time waiting
So much time expecting this
And you
I thought I had nothing left to run from
Yet every night I force my eyes shut
In an agony of resignation
No longer simply separate
I've drifted at an irreducible distance
And days slip by unwanted
I spent too much time waiting
Breath caught in an illusion
And yet the deception was caught too soon
And I stand here faithless, with months to spare
A broken gift in my lap
