Now Arriving at Union Station

A miniature Arthur Ashe walks side by side
with his trainer / father, while his spitting image
a blonde-locked albino runs behind
making wings and shouting "I'm superman!"

The bouquet of iced tea with lemon, churros,
honey-suckle and car exhaust fill my lungs
as I toddle to the busy street.

Sparrows squabble over the best tree
and pigeons contend over remnants of bagel
from the Union cafe.

I see one sparrow,
unaffected by the boisterous traffic
relaxing peacefully under a shade tree
looking at the passers-by, unafraid.

He looks at me.
I look at him.
He closes his eyes as I walk by.

I stomp my right foot in his direction
but all he does is roll his orange eyes open
and give me a dirty look as if to say
"Bitch, you disturbed my rest!"

Yep. You said it. That's exactly what Union Station can be like. You captured it so well I could almost feel myself there beside you. Great piece! :)

sparrows squabble over the best tree and pigeons contend/over remnants of bagel from Union cafe-Yes! i like other images and "bouquet". i did wonder at some long lines and ? better breaks: sparrows squabble
over the best tree/pigeons contest the remnants/of a bagel from the Union cafe.
I see one sparrow/unaffected by boisterous traffic/resting... just suggestions.
Namaste, Phill.
